About

Afreximbank and AfSNET

Afreximbank is a Pan-African multilateral institution specialising in financing and promoting both intra-African and extra-African trade. It provides trade finance solutions to support African businesses, facilitates export development to help industries access international markets, and promotes intra-African trade through tailored financial products and initiatives. Additionally, Afreximbank supports industrialisation to drive economic growth and offers advisory services to strengthen the trade capabilities of African governments and businesses. Through these efforts, Afreximbank stimulates economic development for its 66 member countries across Africa and the Caribbean.

AfSNET – African Sub-Sovereign Governments Network

Recognising the growing role of sub-national governments in regional trade and development, Afreximbank launched AfSNET. This network connects governors, premiers, mayors, and other sub-sovereign leaders to support AfCFTA implementation, boost intra-African trade and economic cooperation at the local level, share knowledge, collaborate on policy development, and access Afreximbank’s financial and technical support services tailored to their unique developmental needs.

Partnership with SALGA

The Southern Africa Local Government Association (SALGA), representing local government authorities across Southern Africa, has been a key ally in strengthening sub-national engagement in Africa’s trade and integration agenda. Its partnership with Afreximbank was notably highlighted during the 3rd AfSNET Conference, where local government leaders discussed unlocking the potential of intra-African trade through grassroots governance structures.

The 5th AfSNET Investment Conference at IATF2025

The 5th AfSNET Investment Conference will be held alongside the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) from 4–10 September 2025 in Algiers, Algeria. Afreximbank and SALGA aim to mobilise participation of Southern Africa local governments, encourage Pavilion and exhibition space uptake, and showcase the trade, investment, and innovation potential of sub-sovereigns in Southern Africa.
