Michael Gamwo is Head of Africa at Wesgro based in Cape Town South Africa. At Wesgro we procure services internationally and identify products and services that have potential for export and import from and to the Cape in South Africa. Michael contributes to the growth of intra African Trade through facilitation of trade between South Africa and the rest of the continent, particularly countries such as Angola, Ethiopia, DRC, Gabon, Congo, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana Cote d’ivoire, Senegal, Mozambique, Kenya and Rwanda.

For the past 5 years, Michael has led about 300 South African businesses and Investors on more than 50 Trade missions in African Countries, and has hosted over 600 business delegates from various African countries for inward missions to connect them with local South African companies

In addition to his International Trade & Investment Promotion expertise, Gamwo successfully runs regular Africa business networking forums, which are a platform for businesspeople on the continent to network and interact with South African companies, with the view of forming partnerships to explore opportunities in Africa. The success of these programmes also rests on Gamwo’s ability to develop strategic partnerships with companies, governments, international organisations and NGOs operating in the African region.

Michael's achievements have earned him recognition as one of the Global TOP 100 Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD - New York 2024) in the Category of International Trade

He has featured in several international business magazines and tv programmes such as SABC, CBNC Africa, ETV, National Televisions from Ethiopian, Cameroon, Nigerian, dealing with intra African trade and Investments.
Prior to Wesgro, Gamwo held Export Manager Positions at two Cape Town based companies, driving their penetration into African countries
