Skills Centrum Rwenzori was founded to address the pressing challenges of poverty and unemployment among young people in the Rwenzori region. We recognized that at the heart of these challenges lies a lack of marketable skills and limited access to opportunities for skill development and particularly in rural areas.
Our journey began with the belief that training alone could bridge this gap. Over time, we discovered that the issue is more complex: skills must be relevant to market demands, connected to viable income opportunities, and supported by strong market linkages. For instance, while many young artisans possess talent, they often lack training in crafts that meet higher market demand locally and internationally, as well as the tools to promote and sell their work.
With this understanding, Skills Centrum Rwenzori has grown into a hub for practical training, market connection, and innovation. We equip artisans and vulnerable groups with modern skills, enhance their capacity in digital marketing, and create pathways to both local and global markets. By doing so, we not only nurture creativity and entrepreneurship but also preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Rwenzori region.
