Organic Naturals Skin Care is addressing two pressing issues in Botswana. The first issue is the underutilization of valuable orphan crops, such as Morula fruit, which can yield between 250,000 and 1 million tons annually. Despite their global value, these crops often go to waste. The root causes of this problem include a lack of effective utilization methods and market access for communities where these crops grow. As a result, the economic benefits of these crops remain untapped. A 2022 survey conducted by Organic Naturals Skincare found that 250,000 women and men were dissatisfied with imported skincare products due to their inability to retain skin moisture and fight dark spots, as well as concerns about paraben content. This dissatisfaction highlights the need for a locally sourced solution. The root cause here is the inadequacy of imported skincare products to address the specific needs of African skin and the local climate.
